Infertility is the inability of the couple to achieve a pregnancy despite unprotected intercourse for a period greater than one year. Infertility may be caused by problems in men, in women, in both. In about 30 % of cases the causes are purely male, in about 30% of cases the causes are purely female. In the remainder of cases problems arise from both partners.
